My name is Sam (she/her). I began using tobacco products to help cope with stress due to coming out to my family and friends as a lesbian when I was younger. I continued to smoke cigarettes and vape when I go out with my friends and to bars and clubs. During South LA Pride, I spoke to The Quit Alliance about my use and my anxiety. The Quit Alliance was able to connect me to The AMAAD Institute, where I accessed behavioral health services close to where I live. I attended one of their UpScene events where I learned about the benefits of quitting tobacco. I’ve attended tobacco cessation support groups with The Quit Alliance and have been able to reduce my tobacco use.
Hi, I’m Alex. I am nonbinary and part of the LA LGBTQ+ community. I found The Quit Alliance through their partnership with The Wall Las Memorias. I was scheduled to have a health check-up with The Wall Las Memorias. Through the health check-up, I was able to share my concern about smoking and wanting to quit and was provided information about The Quit Alliance. My provider gave me the rundown on how to get started through The Quit Alliance website.
Through The Quit Alliance, I took a short questionnaire to dictate where I am in my journey to becoming tobacco-free. The Quit Alliance has helped me achieve my quit day and work on staying tobacco-free. They have also shown me other organization partnerships to support my health safely and comfortably.
